The hot spring water here stays around 80°C (176°F)—hot enough to cook eggs in just a few minutes!

 

A Surreal Masterpiece - Next, step into the dreamlike world of Wat Rong Khun - the White Temple, Chiang Rai’s most iconic landmark. Designed by visionary artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, this modern masterpiece is more than just a temple—it’s a thought-provoking journey through Buddhist philosophy, life, and death. Marvel at its shimmering white façade, intricate carvings, and mind-bending murals inside. This collection of dark teakwood buildings showcases the artwork and personal collection of Thawan Duchanee, one of Thailand’s most celebrated artists. Unlike the White Temple’s focus on enlightenment, the Black House represents mortality, suffering, and the raw side of existence.

Once infamous for its opium trade, this region is now a peaceful, scenic spot offering panoramic views over three countries. The Golden Triangle was once the world's largest opium-producing region, but today, it’s home to efforts in sustainable agriculture and tourism.

 

Optional: Don't miss a Boat Trip on the Mekong River - For those seeking a little extra adventure, hop on a traditional longtail boat for a ride along the Mekong River, the lifeline of Southeast Asia. Glide past riverside villages, see the meeting point of three nations from a unique perspective, and experience the river’s timeless charm. This area is also the point of confluence between the Ruak River (which follows the Thai–Myanmar border) and the Mekong. The area of this tripoint is sometimes termed the Golden Triangle, although the term also refers to the much larger area of those three countries that was notorious as a drug producing region.

Insider Tip: The Mekong is the third longest river in Asia. From its headwaters in the Tibetan Plateau, the river runs through Southwest China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and southern Vietnam. Until today the river remains a major trade route between Tibet and Southeast Asia.

We’ll drop you off at your hotel, where you can relax after your unforgettable journey.
